FREIGHT INDEX & RATES

We track global shipping costs so you don't have to. These live charts show what it actually costs to move a container around the world right now — and how prices have moved over time. Higher index = more expensive shipping.

Global Benchmark · Trading Economics
Baltic Dry Index (BDI)
The world's best-known freight barometer. Measures the cost of shipping raw materials on major sea routes. When BDI rises, global trade is picking up. When it falls, demand is slowing.
What this means for you: A rising BDI usually means sea freight rates from Hamburg and Rotterdam are also climbing. Book early when the index trends up.

Fuel Cost Driver
Brent Crude Oil (USD/barrel)
Diesel and bunker fuel come from crude oil. When oil prices go up, road and sea freight surcharges rise with them. This is the global benchmark that directly affects your fuel surcharge on every shipment.
What this means for you: Every $10 rise per barrel adds roughly 3–5% to your fuel surcharge. We lock in rates where possible to protect you from sudden spikes.
Live data
Currency Risk
EUR / USD Exchange Rate
Sea freight is priced globally in US Dollars. If the Euro weakens against the Dollar, your container quotes in Euro get more expensive — even if the USD rate stays flat. Worth watching before you book.
What this means for you: A stronger Euro means cheaper sea freight in Euro terms. We quote in EUR wherever possible to remove your currency risk.

Container Shipping Rates · Trading Economics
Global Container Freight Index
Tracks the spot rate for a 40ft container across major trade lanes — including Asia–Europe via Suez, which directly affects what you pay to move goods between Europe and the Middle East.
What this means for you: We monitor container spot rates weekly. When rates spike, we alert clients and recommend booking ahead to lock in better prices.

How rates work
Why do freight prices change?
Shipping prices move with supply and demand — just like airline tickets. When many companies need containers at once (peak season, port disruptions) prices jump. When demand drops, rates fall. The charts above give you an early warning before your next shipment.
Europe → Middle East
What affects your route?
The Suez Canal is the main gateway from Europe to the Gulf. Any disruption there — weather, geopolitical tension, congestion — pushes ships around Africa, adding 10–14 days and significant cost. We monitor this lane weekly and advise you ahead of time.
Our promise
How we protect your budget
We lock in spot rates when the market is calm, give you transparent fuel surcharge calculations, and never add hidden fees. If rates spike unexpectedly before your booking is confirmed, we call you first — always.

About AGHA
BUILT IN
THE STORM.

AGHA was founded — during COVID, when global supply chains and most freight forwarders pulled back. We launched anyway. From day one, we took on one of the hardest freight corridors in the world: Europe to Syria — sanctions, limited port access, and almost no reliable partners on the ground. We built that route while the rest of the industry was standing still.

If we can move freight into Damascus during a pandemic and a war, we can move it anywhere. Five years on, that mindset defines everything we do. Düsseldorf to Dubai, Hamburg to Amman — every day, without exception. Difficulty is our specialty.
